Capturing Childhood

What mother doesn't love her own children's faces? We're drawn to them from the moment they come into the world. I've been drawing my children for 16 years. You'd think I'd be an expert by now, but I still have so much to learn. Capturing expression is an illusive feat.

This year I've been drawing nearly everyday. I think I've made more progress drawing faces this year than I have in the last 16. Here are a few recent sketches...
Here's Jane on a turtle sculpture at the park.
This is from a photo of me looking at Lucy for the first time.

How do you capture your kid's childhood? Photos? Memorabilia? Video?

  1. I use the ol' camera to capture them and now Instagram is in the picture. But I adore your sketches. You are so talented!

  2. What's the best camera for a novice photo taker like myself? And, how do you store all those shots? Do you print them? Do you scrap them (who has time?)? I'm very curious.

  3. Oh, you are ubber talented!! I could learn a thing or two from you. Love your sketches! I have a Nikon D90 that I've used a tiny bit for my art, I mostly use my Epson V600 photo scanner for my art.
